STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) was on hand this afternoon at Mississippi State University to discuss winter preparedness.

MDOT officials hosted a winter weather college tour on the MSU drill field to spread awareness about traveling in winter weather.

Passersby were urged to make any winter weather preparations on their vehicle prior to any significant weather events.

Officials gave tips on driving in frigid weather, vehicle preparation and emergency kit setup.

“Driving in winter weather can be dangerous, and the best thing you can do is, actually, be prepared,” MDOT Public Information Officer Jason Scott said. “That’s the easiest way to survive if winter weather conditions come through the area — is to have a plan in place.”
