JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) — Mississippi’s governor is kicking off his second term.

Governor Phil Bryant gave his inaugural address Tuesday morning, surrounded by family, friends, and fellow state leaders.

In his speech, Bryant said he wants to make Mississippi the most job friendly state in America, and he’ll continue to defend residents’ second amendment right to bear arms.

The governor also talked about higher education and improved third grade reading scores, plus issues the Magnolia State needs to work on – like the budget, and improving school choices.

“It should be a parent’s right, not just a privilege by income or social status, to take his or her hard earned tax dollars, and send their child to a school they choose,” he said.

Bryant also said he’ll continue to fight against abortion, saying he wants to “make Mississippi the safest state in America for an unborn child.”
