MONROE COUNTY, Miss.(WCBI)–An Amory man reported missing Sunday is found dead and a suspect is in custody charged with murder.

It was at from a home on Old Highway 6 just off Mize Road in Monroe County, that 43 year old Ronnie Duke of Amory turned up missing. Not knowing Duke had a visitor at his home Friday night, concerned family members had contacted authorities. That visitor was Stanley Pace of Pell City Alabama.

“They had been drinking and they got into an altercation, a fight,” said Sheriff Cecil Cantrell/Monroe County.

That argument eventually turned deadly after Pace began chasing the victim.

“Run out of the mobile home there. He run him down the road, and had what we look like as a sword. A Civil War sword, and he cut him up with that sword,” said Sheriff Cecil Cantrell/Monroe County.

From what we understand Duke’s body was kept somewhere at that location, until Pace moved it the following day to another place on Brown Taylor Road near Hatley.

“Off in this dump here as you can see, garbage dump where they had been dumping garbage here. He was there under some old couches and different things. We got down in there and found it,” said Sheriff Cecil Cantrell.

The body was found around noon Monday. >

The investigation is ongoing, Pace is expected to be arraigned Tuesday.
