Video: Mississippi Judges Start New Year With More Cash

UNDATED, Miss. (WCBI)-With the ringing of the New Year Mississippi Judges will kick this new year off with a bit more in their pockets.

Starting January 1st judges will receive incremental salary increases over the next four years.

The funding will come from an increase in filing fees, felony, misdemeanors, and other various fees.

Court filing fees will increase $40 dollars and fines for crime and traffic tickets will increase by $10 dollars.

Starting tomorrow the chief justice will be paid $126,292 dollars a year.

The two presiding justices will receive $123,600 dollars and the the six associate justices will receive $122,460 dollars.

The chief judge of the Court of Appeals will earn $117,992 dollars and the nine associate judges will earn $114,994 dollars.

Chancery and circuit court judges will be paid $112,127 dollars.

District Attorneys will be paid $103,322 a year and their assistants paid a prorated percentage of their bosses salaries.

And County court judges will receive an annual salary supplement of $7,957 dollars.
