New figures show more than 17 thousand of Mississippians have signed up for private health insurance using a website run by the federal government. Figures show more than 60 percent of the residents who enrolled are women. 92 percent of Mississippians also received government subsidies to help pay for coverage. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services released the numbers of how many people in each state enrolled in health coverage between October and February.The online marketplaces were created by the Affordable Care Act.
