UNIVERSITY of MISSISSIPPI (WCBI) — New Developments tonight in the vandalism of the James Meredith statue. University of Mississippi police want to question three white male students in connection with the February 16th incident on campus. The evidence investigation has been turned over to the district attorney’s office. An attorney for the students says an arrest warrant will be necessary before they can be interviewed by police.

This afternoon, Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity kicked out three freshmen members as a result of the desecration of the statute. The Ole Miss chapter has also been indefinitely suspended.

Charges have not been filed as of yet because the statue wasn’t damaged. However, federal charges are still possible.
