ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI)- Aberdeen aldermen want the town’s cable provider to pay more to use its utility poles. Aldermen voted Tuesday night to charge Metrocast $29.61 each to attach its equipment to as many as 3,000 of the city-owned utility poles. That’s the same rate Metrocast pays the city of Amory. The new rate takes effect January 1st to give both the cable company and the city a chance to adjust its budgets. For years, Metrocast has paid $8 per pole and the city began trying more than a year ago to make a change before finally getting the cable provider to come to some agreement. The higher fee will mean about $40,000 more a year in revenue for the city.
