COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Some Mississippi State University (MSU) students got up close and personal with an Airbus-manufactured helicopter.

Engineering students were invited to the Airbus Columbus plant this afternoon as part of their senior project.

The students observed heat signatures put out by a Lakota model helicopter.

The helicopter engaged in a number of flight patterns as part of the project.

After almost 20 minutes of flight, students took a thermal imaging camera to the aircraft to take note of temperature levels throughout the helicopter as they worked to devise possible cooling solutions to manage any possible heat overflow.
