STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)  More than 1,000 students reached a milestone Saturday morning at Mississippi State’s commencement ceremony.

“I’m just excited to be done. I’m just excited to be finished with my time here then go on and get a job,” said graduate William Fair.

It’s the day most people dream about all their lives- graduation day. But students aren’t the only ones who get a little emotional.

“You try not to be emotional but you are. It’s just like ‘Wow there he is! Look at him!’. We don’t know what the future is holding for him,” said father Michael Woolley.

While some students are afraid of the unknown world outside of college, others are just glad to finally be done.
“Awesome! And a bit surreal too.The time has gone by so quick. High school was never ending and this went like a breeze,” said graduate Zach Woolley.

“This is huge. Zach has worked really hard. He came in, we’d never really known much about Mississippi State and he was offered some scholarships here. Its been the best choice ever,” said Woolley.

Mississippi State is the largest school in the state and still growing. While this was not a traditional May commencement ceremony, 1,300 students graduated from MSU.

Senator Roger Wicker spoke at the commencement ceremony.
