STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Community leaders from the business and educational sector converged on MSU’s Lloyd-Ricks-Watson Building Friday to gather information about it’s Japan Outreach Initiative.

MSU is an ideal location for a JOI coordinator to bridge the cultural gap for economical success. The coordinator will share information on Japanese society, tea ceremony rituals, making sushi, and more.

“I have learned a lot about the needs of the area with the Yokohama tire Plant moving in, that there is a lot of desire to learn more about Japan. And our JOI coordinators do a lot in the communities to help bridge that gap,” said Mari Maruyama, The Laurasian Institution.”

Interviews for a coordinator in being held in mid February. Announcements to applicants will be in mid March. The initiative is funded by Japan Foundation Center For Global Partnership.
