COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — The Mississippi University for Women (MUW) took the stage at this week’s Columbus Exchange Club.

MUW President Jim Borsig stopped by to speak with club members about the university’s progress to date.

Top of the agenda, however, was about the bump in freshman enrollment for the fall semester, which saw a 30 percent increase.

The overall fall enrollment had a three percent increase, with 2,697 students taking classes this semester.

“We are really pleased to see the growth in our freshman class,” Borsig said. “We have about 50 more freshmen than we did a year ago, about 240. We also seen growth in transfer students, and I think those are mostly to the College of Nursing.”

Full-time enrollment also saw a slight five percent increase from last year.
