NEW ALBANY, MISS. (WCBI) – New Albany is in the running for a 10 week live music series.

The grant is sponsored by Levitt Pavilions, the national non profit behind the largest free concert series in America.

New Albany’s proposal was one of 40 selected from 22 states. The “Levitt AMP” grant focuses on small to mid size towns.

Fifteen non profits, or cities partnering with a non profit will receive up to 25 thousand dollars each in matching funds to produce their own concerts.

“First and foremost, it would mean a free , ten week music series to be held here at Park Along the River, next to downtown. The music series would incorporate all different types of genres throughout the week so it’s an experience, an opportunity for people to come out and experience different types of music in a fun, family friendly and scenic community setting,” said Sean Johnson, marketing manager for New Albany.

Online voting is key to New Albany being selected as one of the 15 winners. For information on how to vote, go to https://grant.levittamp.org/voter-registration-page/

Voting runs through November 30th.
