COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) -New municipal court judge Gary Goodwin was sworn in Monday, and officially started his first day as a judge.
Goodwin was appointed by the City Council after former judge Nicole Clinkscales resigned in July to run for the State House of Representatives.

Goodwin served as a public defender prior to taking the seat, and also works in private practice, which he will continue to do along with serving as a judge.

When asked what he would bring to the table, Goodwin says he just wants to bring energy and fairness to the people.

“I’m looking forward to working with the court administrator, and the court clerks, and the bailiffs to run a decent, fair, and expeditious court.”

This is Goodwin’s second time around. He preciously served as the Columbus Municipal Court Judge from 1994 to 1996 before stepping down.
