TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — United Furniture Industries plans to open its newest production facility at the former Lane Furniture Plant in the Tupelo-Lee Industrial Park South.

United Furniture held a job fair to recruit workers at the Verona plant.

Company officials say they will eventually have 300 people working at the plant, making stationary furniture.

The company plans to run four production lines and they are hiring upholsterers, frame builders and fillers.

Locals are excited to see a new company in the facility.

“I’m glad they are coming back in there, will be more jobs for everybody,” Shannon resident Skip Lee said. “People need to work, they need a job, and it will be a good company, a good place to work at.”

Applicants must take the WorkKeys assessment test at WIN job centers.

United Furniture employs about 1,600 people throughout the region.
