COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)-Columbus city schools have contracted with a veteran account to help make sure its new budget is in order. The board officially hired Frances Goldmon during a special meeting this morning at the rate of $95 dollars an hour for 20 days. Goldmon previously was business manager for the Lowndes County school district. Interim superintendent Edna McGill and deputy administrators have been working on the budget since the district’s financial officer was fired in May and Superintendent Martha Liddell was ousted last week. They’ve assured board members the budget plan is in order and won’t require a property tax increase. But McGill and her assistants said they wanted another set of eyes to review their work.
