TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) –  Teaching children about the importance of making healthy choices is the inspiration behind a project between Tupelo’s Early Childhood Education Center and new members of the Junior Auxiliary.

This morning, newest members of the Junior Auxiliary spent time at ECEC, where they made healthy fruit smoothies for kids,  guided them in game time and talked about the importance of proper nutrition.

The provisional project is something that new members of the organization have been working on all month.  They painted large pictures emphasizing healthy eating.

“It’s simple to make one choice, that can make a difference in their health, so instead of choosing a bag of chips, go for a fruit, if they, instead of sitting around for 30 minutes, just get up and move, just make one simple choice to make it healthy,” said Julie West, of the Tupelo Junior Auxiliary.

Tupelo’s Junior Auxiliary takes part in a number of service activities benefiting children and the community throughout the year.
