Video: Newly Elected District Attorney Speaks at MUW for MLK Event

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) -In honor of Martin Luther King, junior, the Mississippi University for Women welcomed new 16th District  District Attorney Scott Colom to campus.

Colom spoke with students at the second annual “Desserts and the Dream” event.

Colom was the youngest  and first African American to be appointed Justice Court Judge, and city prosecutor.

He says he hopes to encourage the students to continue working towards the things that will better their lives.

“We’ve come so far and there’s no reason not to continue to fight for the dream of MLK.”
Colom’s speech focused on the progress of Civil Rights in the 21st Century.
