Video: NMMC Wellness Center Celebrates Silver Anniversary

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – It was a trip back in time for employees at the North Mississippi Medical Center’s Wellness Center in Tupelo. The Wellness Center celebrated 25 years this afternoon, with an open house and health fair. The free event featured screenings by NMMC departments for diabetes, blood pressure, stroke and other issues.

Tupelo Eye Center offered glaucoma screenings. Organizers say it is a way to emphasize health and fitness , which has been the wellness center’s mission for a quarter century.

“We’re actually a certified medical fitness facility so we serve all types of clients, we do anything from physical therapy, to after they have had heart surgery to the person who is in great condition so we serve the whole community, health education classes, cooking demos.”

Healthworks also had a giant inflatable lung on display.
