Video: No More “Lunch Money” Needed in Columbus Schools

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – There will be no lunch money at Columbus schools this year.The Child Nutrition Program will provide free breakfast and lunch regardless the student’s of household income. Superintendent Dr. Philip Hickman says the district worked closely with the state to get the program.

“When you about closing the achievement gaps, there are outside factors that also affect education. One of them is being able to to have a a functioning developing brain. And nutritious meals will help strengthen the mileage of the brain. It will help with learning and memory and focus.”
Thursday is the first day of school for Columbus students.
