BOONEVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) -Northeast Mississippi Community College students can start picking up iPads Thursday.

Over seven hundred students are signed up for an initiative at NEMCC that allows students and faculty to purchase iPads at a discounted rate.

The iPads can store textbooks, along with other information and resources for classes. Organizers say the initiative has many benefits for students.

“This is where the future is going, also it’s about engaging students in the classroom and no matter what job you’re in these days, you have to know some type of technology.”

About half of NEMCC students will take advantage of the iPad program.
