MANTACHIE, Miss. (WCBI) – It’s been less than a month since Wal-Mart announced it was closing its express stores.

One of those was in Mantachie.

The store employed 35 full time workers.

13 part timer’s were laid off and the others were relocated to other stores.

Itawamba County economic leaders want another business in the building because they know it will do well and help the area.

” The Mantachie Wal-Mart Express store was the #1 store, so they were doing very well in Mantachie and we saw a growth revenue in taxes there for the town.”

Wal-Mart owns the building and the land, so it will have to give developers a selling price.
