NOXUBEE COUNTY, Miss. – (WCBI) A Noxubee woman accused of wounding a deputy after an eight hour standoff remains in the hospital.
Sheriff Terry Grassaree adds that Deputy Eddie Franklin, who was grazed by a bullet Monday, is resting at home this afternoon.

Franklin was transported and released from Baptist Golden Triangle after the incident on Fairview Road.

Authorities were called to 53-year old Elizabeth Guyton’s home around 8 Monday morning, after she reportedly threatened a neighbor who was trying to herd his cows back onto his farm Sunday afternoon.

The standoff with deputies ended that afternoon with both Deputy Franklin and Guyton, suffering gunshot wounds.

“Ms. Guyton is in fair condition at this time. She sustained some bullet wounds to the leg, to the lower parts of the body and to the upper part of her body,” says Sheriff Grassaree.

Once Guyton recovers from the leg and torso wounds, she face a host of charges, including aggravated assault on a police officer.

Guyton has a lengthy history with mental illness. The name of the deputy who shot Guyton has not yet been released; and the MBI is in charge of this case.
