GRENADA, Miss. (WCBI) – Hundreds of law enforcement officers from around Mississippi gathered at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada to honor the life of a fallen brother.
MBN Agent Lee Tartt was shot and killed in the Tishomingo County stand-off Friday night.

All that knew the slain officer say he was not only an outstanding agent but he was a great friend as well.

Tartt was often referred to as an honest, soft-spoken man who always had a smile on his face and loved his family.

Officer Jamie Beard says it doesn’t matter whether you knew Tartt personally or not, everyone comes together when a brother pays the ultimate sacrifice.

“Law enforcement in itself is a brotherhood. When a law enforcement officer lays down his life for the fellow man and safety and well being of any citizen, the brothers come out and unite and fellowship, and it truly shows what the meaning is to be a law enforcement officer,” said Officer Beard, with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department.

Officers from across the state and some out of state were in attendance for the funeral.
