LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Ongoing efforts to improve one of Eastern Lowndes County’s busiest roads takes a small step forward.

The county received approval to use about $1 million in state money to repave South Lehmberg from Highway 182 to Yorkville Road.

Previously, the state said the county must widen and make other changes to be eligible for state money for project funding.

The new waiver only requires the county to make the improvements in the future.

But any work on the busy connector between New Hope and East Columbus still are as much as a year away.
