OKOLONA, Miss. (WCBI) — Okolona High School seniors were honored for their 12 years of hard work with a parade down Main Street. The high school teamed up with the Okolona Community Dollars for Scholars program where students raise funds for college through fundraisers, as well as performing community service. The non-profit organization started in 2005 to help students prepare themselves for college. One senior believes the parade allows students to remind the community of the importance of education.

“I mean like you see other schools and other states that do a lot for their seniors and so I think this just opens the door of opportunity for more things to be approach by the Okolona School Board,” said John Stanfield, Dollars and Scholars Director.

The Seniors were also treated to a dinner.
