STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — A petitioners wanting to force a thirteen point two million dollar bond referendum for the Oktibbeha County School District got their paperwork in by the 12 noon deadline Tuesday.

Conservator Margie Pulley announced receipt of the 1,533 signatures needed. Those petitions will now be taken under advisement and final actions will be taken at a later date. There is concern over higher taxes as a result of FUTURE construction bonds.

“We petitioned and our petition is calling it to be put on the ballot. So that the citizens in the county school district can vote whether we want to pay for it or reject it,” said Preston Self, Oktibbeha County.

There were 131 signature that did not make that 12 noon deadline.
