STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)-An East Oktibbeha volunteer fire chief is one of the top five finalists in the nation.

Greg Ball was nominated by several county employees and by the Oktibbeha County fire coordinator for the Volunteer Fire Chief of the year award.

He was featured in the latest issue of “Fire Chief Magazine” along with receiving honors through the International Fire Chief Association.

After 21 years of service to the department, Ball says none of this would possible without his support system.

“I’m proud to get it.  Like I said I couldn’t do this without my family and fire fighters supporting me everyday because this is a 24/7; 365 thing that we do,” says Chief Greg Ball.

The winner was flown to Chicago for an award ceremony.
