OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Oktibbeha County today kicked off its Local Day of Action campaign with a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) prepare-a-athon siren drill at the OSERVS headquarters.

Outdoor emergency alert sirens were activated as part of the campaign.

Starkville Mayor Parker Wiseman and Oktibbeha County Board of Supervisors President Orlando Trainer were on hand to speak on preparedness activities including reviewing emergency plans and conducting drills during a potential disaster like tornadoes, earthquakes, hazardous material leaks and hurricanes.

The goal of the campaign is to increase the number of people who understand which disasters could happen in their community, know what to do to be safe and take action to increase their preparedness.
