Video: Old Scam Preying on Columbus Light and Water Customers

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) -Rising temperatures usually means higher bills. It’s most likely one reason con-artists are trying to get your money.

Columbus Light and Water says some of its customers have received a phone call saying a bill must be paid or their service would be cutoff.

That’s not how any utility operates. This has become a popular scam.

Northern District Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley says at least six utility companies have reported a similar scam to his office.
