OXFORD, Miss. (WCBI) — Ole Miss student leaders voted to remove the state flag from their campus because it shows a symbol of the confederacy.

They voted 33 to 15 on the issue, Tuesday night. One student senator abstained.

The university recently released a statement asking the state government to change the flag, as other states have done.

At least three of Mississippi’s public universities have already stopped flying the flag.
