COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)-Life can bring unexpected tragedies, but one Columbus man is using his personal loss to help others.

July 1, 2010 was a day that changed Corey Hall’s life forever.

“That day my dad had called me and just told me he had a feeling to not go out that night. He called me right back and just told me he loved me and that was it. A few hours went by and the next phone call I got was somebody telling me that he had a motorcycle wreck. We waited and finally after a while Greg Merchant just said you know he didn’t make it,” says Corey Hall.

As Hall mourned the loss of his father John, he found himself going deeper into depression. That’s when things took a turn for the worse.
“I was experimenting with drugs and things then but when he died that sent me on a rough road,” says Hall.

But Hall knew someone had a better plan for his life.

“I did that until Jesus Christ saved my soul,” says Hall.

Now, 21-year old Hall is working as a lay pastor at Zion Assembly Church of God in Caledonia, sharing his story in hopes to make a difference.

“The Lord doesn’t care how much you’ve done or how low you get, God can deliver you from it and it’s not a cope with me Lord he doesn’t save you and make you deal with your addictions he can take them from you,” says Hall.

Hall says what seemed like the end, truly became the beginning of his new journey.

The man who hit John Hall was later charged with vehicular manslaughter and a DUI.
