LOUISVILLE, Miss.(WCBI)–A newly formed Winston County organization launches a community wide effort aimed at helping Holly Springs residents hit hard by a deadly tornado.

Citizens of Louisville and Winston County are still in recovery mode from their disaster, but thats not stopping them from reaching out to the people of Holly Springs.

“We had our tornado in April 2014, so we know first hand what the devastation and the heartache and all the things that come with that,” said Mellie Jordan/Operation Help.

The group knows very well what items are needed during the initial relief process. With a list in hand of whats needed, a massive collection initiative begins.

“Water of course, paper goods, cleaning supplies, non-perishable food items. Pet food, diapers and wipes, bedding,” said Mellie Jordan.

People wanting to donate to the cause are not restricted to giving just those on Operation Help’s list.

“You know I would encourage anybody if they feel led to give a certain thing to go ahead and do that because in our process of I believe, one of the biggest blessings that we got were actually hamburger buns,” said Mellie Jordan.

The deadline for collecting the items is January 6th, tornado victims in Holly Springs should receive those relief supplies that following day.
