COLUMBUS, Miss.(WCBI)–A Columbus man is taking to the streets in support of an Arizona rancher shot dead by police as he supported the group of protesters who seized a national wildlife refuge in eastern Oregon because of federal land management policies.

Columbus resident Jimmy Ray Bourland along with two other men not representing any group or organization could be seen Friday along Highway 45 near Wilkins Wise Road in a show of solidarity for 54 year old LaVoy Finicum whose funeral is today.

A large American flag and a huge City of America fire engine was at the site of solidarity.

The deadly confrontation apparently took place when Finicum and other protesters were driving to a meeting.

“Why do you go ambush a model citizen like that. A U. S. Marine. Thats not quite the payback that you would expect from your government,” said Jimmy Ray Bourland/Columbus Resident.

Bourland says he wants to bring awareness to a situation where in his words was no due process.
