Video: Pickens County Voters get a Chance to Vote on Sales Tax Measure

PICKENS COUNTY, Ala. (WCBI) –  Pickens County electors will notice a single referendum when they hit the polls for the upcoming primaries.Officials are looking to levy an additional one percent sales tax for education purposes.
Pickens County already has a one percent sales tax which has been in effect since the 80s.County School Superintendent Jamie Chapman said the current tax brings in just under 900 thousand per year, and estimates the extra one percent would garner just as much.Chapman said the money would compensate for the increasing prices across the board for school materials.
