COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Good afternoon, everyone. Thanks for joining us, I’m Aundrea Self.

This week alone, police have responded to four bomb threats in the Columbus School District — two of them today. There have been a total of 10 threats this school year.

That response includes taking students out of class — sometimes off campus — and dispatching emergency personnel and bomb-sniffing dogs.

Fortunately, they were all just a hoax. But police have arrested four students and expect to make more as they continue to investigate.

Columbus Police Chief Selvain McQueen released a statement today saying, ‘This behavior will not be tolerated. It ties up manpower, endangers the lives of others and the cost associated with bomb threats can be quite expensive.”

School district officials also want students to know this is not funny.

Interim School Superintendent Edna McGill joins us in the studio.
