PONTOTOC, Miss. (WCBI)-Businesses in Pontotoc have gotten together again this year to show their appreciation for their customers.

Friday afternoon customers there were taking advantage of a good time, at the expense of entrepreneurs there.

After the festive occasion in downtown Pontotoc is over, business owners will have fed 13 hundred hotdogs in 13 years to their valued consumers.

People lined up at the local bank were not depositing money, just withdrawing hotdogs and stuff from the tables.

“People turn out, stores give away cookies, cakes, ice cream, hotdogs, drinks. People come down town into Pontotoc and that’s why we started this thing,:” said David Helms, Pontotoc Progress.

Customer Appreciation Day has become a tradition that is wooing residents from Pontotoc County and beyond to the square.

And with Pontotc school students on spring break, they just added to an already large crowd during the lunch hour.

“We got some new restaurants downtown, the businesses, they have been here are, some of them are you know second generation businesses down here,” said Helms.

“Ha, ha, my great grandfather started the business in 1895 and we’ve been in the same building since 1897,” said Millicent Seawright, Pontotoc Business Owner.

Millicent Seawright’s business is only one of the many saying we appreciate you Pontotoc consumers of local goods and services.

“We are thanking all the good people of Pontotoc County for shopping at home in Pontotoc,” said Seawright.

In addition to food and drinks, several stores offered discounts and held cash drawings.
