COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Power is back on for several downtown businesses, after an electrical fire broke out Saturday behind the Trotter Convention Center.

On Sunday, crews with Columbus Light & Water spent the day replacing the transformer that caught fire.

Though the blaze itself wasn’t big, it caused quite a headache for business owners, who had to close early while being without power for several hours.

The power outage even interrupted a wedding at the Trotter, but fortunately workers were able to get generators up and running so the ceremony could go on as planned.

Trotter officials say power will likely still be out at the convention center until Monday.
