Video: Prayer Vigil Held in Honor of Upcoming Martin Luther King Day

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Ceremonies marking Martin Luther King’s contributions began in Lowndes County Friday evening. Reverend Kamal Karriem as well as the MLK Committee hosted a prayer vigil at the courthouse.

Karriem promoted progress through spiritual growth, prayer and song. He also spoke about community relations, including black on black crime, community relations with police, as well as economic conditions.

A series of other celebratory events will conclude on Monday.
