TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — A special guest of honor visited Mississippi’s most popular tourist attraction, Saturday.

Priscilla Presley spent several hours looking at the many exhibits on the Elvis Presley Birthplace grounds. Priscilla last visited the birthplace decades ago, during a quick trip to Tupelo with Elvis and Elvis’ boyhood friend, Guy Harris.

She says the attractions, such as the theatre, the original building where Elvis attended church as a child, and the museum help tell the story of Elvis’ formative years, when he and his family were struggling to make ends meet in Tupelo.

Presley says Elvis would be surprised to see all the exhibits at the place where it all started.

“I know the word blown away is overly used but I don’t think he could even imagine anything like this,” Presley said. “He, Elvis, was very humble, always, he didn’t brag, or say ‘Oh, I would love to see this about myself.’ He lived life and he did what he did best but knowing him and seeing the appreciation this little town has done for him here, he’d be blown away.”
