Video: PSC Looks to Expand Natural Gas to Rural Choctaw Co.

WEIR, Miss. (WCBI) — Expanding natural gas service into rural areas of Choctaw County is one of the goals of the Mississippi Public Service Commission.

Northern District Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley told a Weir audience this evening the process will not happen overnight, but the effort to run gas lines into new areas is moving forward. Presley says its needed in order to give residents an option that could save them money.

“We know one thing for sure, having more options for instance saves every family. Natural gas, right now, is fairly cheap and a lot of customers want this service in their home and I want to to try to get it to as many people as possible,” says Presley.

Presley also briefed the crowd on the a psc initiative called Zap the Gap which wants to bring high speed internet into smaller communities across the state.
