COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The above-average rainfall has made a dent – literally- in roads throughout the region. And road crews are scrambling this week to get as many as possible patched on busy roads before sub-freezing temperatures arrive later this week. Those temperatures will make a bad situation worse by freezing water in road cracks, causing the pavement to split even more when warmer weather returns. Road managers say having severe cold this early in the season could mean a long spring for paving crews.
