COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Columbus Public Works crews are making sure an East Columbus road will be ready for increased traffic.

Workers spent Thursday afternoon making improvements at the intersection of Lehmberg and West Lehmberg Roads. Extra gravel was put down to shore up the shoulder to allow big trucks to make the turn easier.

The most noticeable change will be the installation of a three way Stop at the intersection.

West Lehmberg will be a major detour while crews replace the Magby Creek bridge on North Lehmberg Road.

“Mainly the 18 wheelers that are going to end up travelling West Lehmberg more so than they used to travel, and that will give them a chance to have a turning lane here so they can turn at the 3 Way.”

The traffic changes go into effect Monday.
