STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – After weeks of debate Lewis Holloway will keep his job as Superintendent of the Starkville-Oktibbeha Consolidated School District.
Holloway was arrested and charged with 2 counts of simple assault after police say he shot a gun in the air during a disturbance. After Monday’s decision was announced, not everyone was pleased with the results.

That was Donna Couvion who’s family was involved in the disturbance expressing her disappointment to board President Eddie Myles .
The board gave some insight as to why they made their decision through a statement

” The allegations do not involve school personnel or school related issues, and the alleged incident occurred away from district property.”

After the statement was read a leader with the NAACP gave his opinion.
And Myles explained the boards thought process.

” Holloway displayed poor judgement. He has fired personnel in this district for less.”

” It was a poor decision, and people do make poor decisions, and based upon all the other facts there were there, allowed 3 of 4 votes, board members to make their decision.”

The board voted 3-1 to reinstate Dr. Holloway following a two week suspension without pay. Lee Brand was the one against vote.
Dr. Holloway will return to work on September 8.
