COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)-A night of serving customers at a Columbus restaurant pays off for a local relay for life team.

Today the Jackson Square Grill presented a $1,000 dollar check to the team from Beersheba Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

The group recently spent an evening waiting tables at the restaurant…and all their tips will go to Relay For Life.

Mott Ellis said, “It’s very important for local businesses to be involved and The Grill showing their support for us just speaks volumes and we need other businesses to step up and take this same opportunity and be a part and show their services to the community as well.”

Dow Ford said, “It does give us an opportunity to be community involved. Some of us work some really extensive hours. We don’t have a lot of time to be able to volunteer to do anything so this gives us that opportunity to support a good cause.”

Relay For Life teams all across the area are hosting fundraisers for their upcoming relay events. They kick off next month and last throughout the summer.
