TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — Saturday was a very special day for the family of slain Tupelo police officer Gale Stauffer.

It was the final day for the renovations on the Stauffer home on Woodlawn.

Thanks to the efforts of volunteers from all over the country, the 80-year-old, 13-hundred square foot residence has been complete remade, and doubled in size.

Meanwhile, Woodmen of the World presented a lifesaver award to Sergeant Stauffer, which was accepted by his mother.

The fraternal financial organization also present lifesaver awards to Tupelo officer Joseph Maher, and two others who were instrumental in protecting Tupelo citizens during the December 23rd bank robbery, which claimed Stauffer’s life.
