TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) –  The church shooting in South Carolina was on the minds and hearts of those gathered for a monthly meeting of a ministry called ‘Revive Tupelo.’

The monthly service for “Revive Tupelo’ was held at First Baptist Church.  The ministry encourages churches to come together across racial and denominational lines to pray for revival.

During tonight’s service, several pastors offered prayers for the victims families in the South Carolina church shooting and they also prayed for a sense of unity, instead of division.

“As a body, while we are here in Tupelo , and even around the county we believe those prayers can be felt and it’s just another reason why we need to come together, look at the things that bring us together, verses the things that divide us and pray for that young man, something is going wrong in his life where he felt he needed to take a life rather than seeing that life is so valuable,” said Jeff Daniel, pastor of Whitehill Missionary Baptist Church.

Revive Tupelo is planning a weeklong , door to door evangelism outreach throughout the city this October.
