TUPELO and JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) – Former Lee County Justice Court Judge Rickey Thompson’s name will not be on the November Ballot.

In August the State Supreme Court removed Thompson from the bench for judicial misconduct.

Early in September, a panel of three Federal judges ruled that Thompson’s name should be removed from the ballot.

Thompson disagreed with the judges’ decision arguing that it was state matter, and filed suit against the Attorney General and others.

Today, Hinds County Circuit Court upheld the earlier decisions, saying that the state law that allowed his name to removed from the ballot IS constitutional.

Thompson’s attorney Jim Waide says a Federal suit is pending, but won’t be decided in time to get Thompson back on the November ballot.

The Lee County Democratic executive committee have placed Marcus Crump on the ballot in Thompson’s place.
