COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The retirement of the Columbus Lowndes Recreation Authority’s executive director is official. Roger Short presented to the board of directors his official plans to retire later this year.

He’s served with the CLRA board for more than 20 years, 15 of which were served as executive director. Short said although a lot of progress has been made in the city and county, more work needs to be done. He said the ideal candidate for the seat would be someone focused on progress.

“I’d like to see somebody that’s got some vision — that’s progressive on someone that’s aggressive. Those are things I think you’ve got to do in this position. You’ve got to have some vision.”

Short will officially retire on December 31 of this year.
