Video: Safety Training Program Lands in Tupelo

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) -A drive across America stopped in Tupelo today to raise funds for an air medical safety foundation. It began in California one week ago and the journey has brought this team to Tupelo to raise funds and awareness for air medical safety.

The safety training class is designed for local aeromedical, EMS and fire departments.The goal of the safety drive is to raise at least one hundred thousand dollars for the MedEvac Foundation, which will support further safety research.Program organizers recognize that safety is a key factor for first responders and fundraising is one way to promote that.

“Safety has to be the forefront of everything you do. It’s a dangerous profession but we make it safer by doing this safety research.”

“The dollars raised here are going to the Tupelo Red Cross. We’ve been very successful in raising money for our cause and we decided that because its impacted so many folks to include our customer here in Tupelo, that these dollars, large or small, will go to the local Red Cross”

The Tupelo stop is sponsored by North Mississippi Medical Center Care Flight and Air Methods.The drive for next year is already being planned.
