COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) -Summer break has come to a close for students in the area, as schools start back this week. It’s important for everyone to be ready, especially kids and school bus drivers.

That’s right, a lot of big yellow buses will be out on north Mississippi roads tomorrow. here are some tips students should keep in mind.

“Pay attention to the traffic, make sure you don’t dart out into traffic when you’re coming to the bus. stay back away from the road until the bus comes to a complete stop. look both ways, make sure you don’t have somebody trying to pass the bus on your side. just basically pay attention to your driver, they’ll direct you when to come on the bus,” said James Patrick, Transportation Director of Lowndes County Schools.

Now those tips are more for students riding the bus. some tips for traveling vehicles are to respect the stop sign on the school bus, do not pass a stopped school bus and be mindful of children getting on and off the buses. The first day of school in Columbus is tomorrow.
